What do an IAS officer at Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh, a cancer cell researcher at AIIMS, a manager at ‘Ferchaue Engineering’ in Germany and a scientist at the Baba Atomic Centre have in common? They have all graduated from Sharda Vidya Mandir(SVM), a school based in Sehore, a small town of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is 37 km away from the state capital of Bhopal.
The school Sharda Vidya Mandir was started in 1980 by the Bhopal Sugar Industries Ltd for its employees’ and farmers’ children in and around the Sehore district. It started as a primary school up to class 5, and is now a CBSE recognized senior secondary school since 2014. Sharda Vidya Mandir was awarded: Best Results in the MP Board Exams in the Sehore District for 3 consecutive years by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. SVM and it’s students, fighting the baggage of caste and class, have secured accolades in the fields of healthcare, Indian Administrative Services, Engineering and more. SVM has also branched out into schools up till Class 10 in two nearby villages, Ichchawar and Shyampur.

In this everchanging world in terms of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Medical Sciences and Engineering, the entire world including the most developed countries are looking at India for the resources, Human Resources in particular. The reason in simple – India’s Education System that has been into existence since time immemorial.

Schools and their philosophies are the first impressionable milestone  of Educational System. Our school’s motto is ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ which means that knowledge is that which liberates. The main role of knowledge is to free us from all these bondages: fear, doubts, inadequacy, and uncertainty. Swami Vivekanand also opined that we want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one’s own feet. So, our main responsibility is to plan and implement the activities which transform the toddler taking admission in our school to an individual who is an asset for his family, society and nation.

One characteristic that sets Sharda Vidya Mandir apart from other schools is that we try to inculcate values along with the academic excellence in our students. We aim to make them independent and responsible global citizens. This is a long and slow process. In this nation building processes various pedagogies are applied. Skill Subjects are taught to develop Entrepreneurial skills. Thus laying a strong foundation to develop the qualities of Head and Heart.
